REFLECTIONS AND RESOLUTIONS

Now the year 2023 has come to an end, you might be thinking "How did I spend the whole year?" or maybe you are thinking “How has the year moved by so fast?”

Reflecting on how you have spent the entire year is very important as it increases self-awareness and helps you monitor your progress on whatever you have embarked on. At the same time, it is good to self-reflect on what has happened this past year. It is important not to reflect focusing only on your failures and disappointments. Rather, reflect on what you want, and your strength, update your knowledge and growth in every aspect of life.

While reflection is mostly about thoughts and internal motivation, it is backed up by action. You can think back and make perfect mental plans but once there is no action, the plan is as obsolete as an empty journal. Peter Drucker said:

Follow effective action with quiet reflection. From the quiet reflection, will come even more effective action.

Here are some of the things you can reflect on:

  • What are you grateful for?

  • What are the challenges you overcame?

  • What was the happiest thing that happened to you this year?

  • What are the things that made you sad this year?

  • Did I achieve the goal I set this year?

While you are beating yourself up so badly because you think you are an underachiever, knowing that things don't always work out is important. Whatever we learn about ourselves along the way influences our path, perspective, and approach to life. It is critical to know what we want to alter going forward in order to continue on our path of discovering or approaching our mission.

It is about time to make resolutions on what should happen in 2024. While making a list of resolutions, it is crucial to know that a change of mindset is a big deal. Every year, we make the same resolution sometimes just to fail due to lack of discipline.

Here are some of the proven tips you can apply to stick to your resolutions:

Be Realistic

When setting your New Year goals, aim for clarity and viability. Determine what is realistically within your reach in terms of skills and resources. Establish specific, unambiguous goals and develop a workable strategy with specific actions. Remember that growth frequently entails setbacks, so be patient with yourself as you go and remain adaptable as necessary.

Commitment and Routine

Make a Plan

Track your Progress

Reflections and resolution have become major parts of human life needed for growth and development in all aspects of our lives. So while reflecting to know what has happened, make resolutions to achieve your next goals and embark on the journey of real growth.
